How OpenBlock handles reader and subscriber data

OpenBlock keeps data handling simple. We collect the minimum information needed to run the newsletter, answer reader requests, and maintain the site.

Newsletter subscriptions

When you subscribe to the weekly briefing, OpenBlock stores your name and email address so the subscription can be recorded and duplicates can be prevented.

The signup record can also include the page where the form was submitted and the language version of the site, so the editorial team can understand which entry points readers are actually using.

Email delivery

Welcome emails and future newsletter delivery are handled through Resend. OpenBlock does not expose API keys or email credentials in client-side code.

If an email send fails after a signup is saved, the subscriber record is still kept so the site does not lose the subscription request.

Operational logs and analytics

The site may keep basic server logs that help diagnose delivery errors, failed submissions, and page-level issues. These logs are used for maintenance, not for building advertising profiles.

OpenBlock is designed as a content product, not an ad-tech data pipeline. The goal is to keep tracking light and limited to what helps the site function properly.

Reader requests

If you write to OpenBlock about a correction, editorial question, or partnership, the message is only used to handle that request and any necessary follow-up.

If you want a subscriber record removed or corrected, contact the team through the site contact page and include the email address used for the signup.
